II vs. Starbucks.
(and I'm not even in Buenos Aires)
Four blocks my house is a very traditional coffee ice cream in the same block, a few feet away, there is a Starbucks. During the first months alternated between each other, and finally, not without a dose of guilt, I decided to Starbucks. The muffins were richer, the coffee a little worse but more stable, chai latte definitely superior. When the crisis began in the neighborhood turned to coffee, because I thought that Starbucks was going to survive without me, "Linz and Vail" no. My great policy decision, in the midst of global depression, is deciding where to buy coffee. In short, life in the suburbs.
Today I was tired of working, and make a break and went to Linz Vail. I ordered coffee and blueberry muffin. paid in cash, and when the boy and had charged me, I said "I have blueberry muffins." "Well, give me the oatbran and raisins." "Ah, no, no I have left. I still blueberry scones. " The blueberry scone was inedible. I went home annoyed.
The service is always the same Starbucks, the coffee always has the same taste, look at the counter if they are muffins or not before paying. I should like standardization, but I like (damn Fordism!), And I guess I'm not alone. How is Starbucks in Buenos Aires? People queuing at the Alto Palermo was a little sad until I looked though the pictures and saw that most were high school students without much to do. Has anyone ever left his coffee at Starbucks? (Although my usual coffee in Buenos Aires were two evil Corporations, the Aroma of Marcelo T and Florida and Martinez of Santa Fe and Suipacha - or Emerald? - I think I feel guilty leaving them at Starbucks.)
